About this brewery
Born at the Monastero San Biagio in Nocera Umbra, in Umbria, Birra San Biagio bills itself as the first Italian craft beer of monastic inspiration, heir to a tradition dating back to the year 1333. Its beers are unfiltered, unpasteurised and bottle-refermented, in the spirit of the Trappist master brewers. The range runs from Ambar (a stout/strong ale) to Aurum and Monasta (amber double-malt ales) and Gaudens, a fine-headed Bohemian pilsner. Ambar took the gold medal at the Mondial de la Bière in Strasbourg in 2011. A terroir-driven production, born of the passion of master brewer Giovanni Rodolfi.
