"FESTI'TOUR — Crete Senesi & Villaggio della Birra 2026

EDITORIAL TEXT
INTRODUCTION
The Villaggio della Birra celebrates its twentieth edition from 4 to 6 September 2026 at the Parco dell'Acqua in Rapolano Terme, a spa village in the Crete Senesi, south-east of Siena in Tuscany. A pioneer among Italian beer festivals, it brings together some 25 craft breweries from seven countries, from Belgium to the United States, and this year marks thirty years of Italian craft beer. For this land of travertine, thermal springs and clay hills, it is the gathering that draws beer lovers from all over Europe. This Festi'Tour offers you a day's drive through the Crete Senesi before joining the party.
MEET
A few minutes from the festival, meet the brewers of La Stecciaia, Tuscany's first certified-organic farm brewery (birrificio agricolo), based at the hamlet of Pereto. Here the barley is grown on site and brewed at the farm. The beBeer records Birrificio La Stecciaia and Podere del Pereto give you direct access to these local players, present at the Villaggio every year.
TASTE
Taste Pereto's organic farmhouse beers, then build the Tuscan pairing: aged pecorino di Pienza, Cinta Senese charcuterie and olive oil from the hills of Serre. The Sienese breweries listed on beBeer round out the tasting: La Diana and Birra San Gonnario in Siena, Cane Nero in Badia Agnano, PLB – Podere La Berta in Castelnuovo Berardenga or the Saragiolino from the Crociani farm. A concrete taste of the local scene before the big gathering.
DISCOVER
Then take to the roads of the Crete Senesi. First stop in Serre di Rapolano: the Museo dell'Antica Grancia e dell'Olio, housed in a fortified medieval grange, tells the story of olive oil and travertine, whose quarries still surround the village. Continue towards Asciano on the SP 438 Lauretana: the road winds between grey clay hills, lone cypresses and the panoramas that made the region's photographic reputation. Drop down to Buonconvento, listed among Italy's most beautiful villages, to wander its brick lanes behind the ramparts. On the way back to Rapolano, treat yourself to two hours of relaxation at the Terme Antica Querciolaia, whose hot waters have been renowned since Etruscan times. You are now five minutes from the festival.
JOIN
Finish at the Parco dell'Acqua, where the Villaggio della Birra is in full swing for three days. On the programme: around 25 breweries, including De Dolle, Brasserie de la Senne and Cazeau from Belgium, Fermento Libero and Olmaia from Italy, guided tastings with Lorenzo “Kuaska” Dabove, concerts, street food and a family area. Entry is free and camping is possible on site: the natural finale to your day in the Crete Senesi.

• Festival — Villaggio della Birra (Rapolano Terme): Pioneering Italian craft beer festival, 20th edition from 4 to 6 September 2026 at the Parco dell'Acqua; around 25 breweries from seven countries, free entry. A major event on the European beer calendar, missing from the beBeer database even though eight local records revolve around it. Priority: high
• Museum — Museo dell'Antica Grancia e dell'Olio (Rapolano Terme (Serre di Rapolano)): Fortified medieval grange housing a museum of olive oil and travertine, in the heart of the village of Serre di Rapolano. A key heritage stop on the Festi'Tour, anchoring the festival in its host town's agricultural history. Priority: high
• Landscape — Crete Senesi – route panoramique SP 438 Lauretana (Asciano): Scenic road between Siena and Asciano crossing the clay hills of the Crete Senesi, dotted with viewpoints. The signature landscape south of Siena and the natural thread of any beer itinerary in the area. Priority: high
• Village — Buonconvento (borgo) (Buonconvento): Fortified brick village listed among Italy's most beautiful, on the Via Cassia south of the Crete Senesi. Complements the existing Buonconvento brewery record and offers a food-and-heritage stop usable on several routes. Priority: medium
• POI — Terme Antica Querciolaia (Rapolano Terme): Historic thermal baths of Rapolano Terme, with hot-water pools open to day visitors all year round. A strong stay-longer argument: combining spa and festival extends visitor time in the host town. Priority: high"
