Birrocco: Sicily's Craft Beer Festival by the Sea

The name is a play on birra and barocco, the late Baroque architecture of south-eastern Sicily that UNESCO added to its World Heritage list after the earthquake of 1693 rebuilt eight towns in a single style. Birrocco reaches its eleventh edition from 13 to 16 August 2026 at the marina of Marina di Ragusa, the coastal resort below the hill town of Ragusa Ibla. It has become the most followed craft beer festival on the island, gathering Italian producers from Sicily to Trieste along with guests from further afield, and it runs across the Ferragosto weekend when the Sicilian coast is at its busiest. A beer passport guides visitors through the taps. Combining the festival with the Baroque circuit of Ragusa, Modica and Scicli, all within half an hour inland, makes for a straightforward itinerary.
